If you are preparing for parenthood for the first time, it is natural to have doubts in each and every thing you do. It is always good to have an idea about what is good for your baby and what isn’t. Care should be taken from the very first stage-yes, exactly when you start planning for a baby. You should prepare yourself for being a good parent. A healthy body is the first and foremost requirement.
You are recommended to take Folic Acid at least before three months before conceiving. You have to follow healthy food habit with plenty of milk, egg, water, cereals, pulses and vegetables especially, green leafy vegetables. Avoid junk foods. This should be followed till you give birth to your child. Once conceived, try to avoid travelling at least in the first and last trimesters.
Travelling in the second trimester is relatively safer than the first and the last trimesters. You can even do gentle exercises. After delivery, before bringing your child to your home, it is better to baby proof your house. You can hire a baby nurse for help. Wash your hands before touching your baby. Give support to the head and neck of the baby. You should make an intimacy with your child. Physical intimacy will later lead to emotional intimacy.
Try to communicate with your child, babies enjoy talking, singing and babbling. Swaddling is another way of making your baby comfortable as it gives a sense of comfort. Always use baby cream before using diapers to avoid rashes, and also clean up your baby using baby wipes. Baby should be fed only with breast milk for the first six months. Later you can start semi solid and solid foods accordingly. Crying is the primary means of communication.
However, prolonged cry is not a good sign. It is always good to take your baby to a doctor in that case.
